Welcome to the OpenphotoPod website.
OpenphotoPod is an application which enables you to manage galleries on your iPod (of the 5th Generation and iPod nano=> probably). This means: the application allows you to load pictures from your Computer, scale them and convert them into the correct formats for your iPod. Once stored on your iPod, you can watch them whenever wherever you want. (Even TV viewing is possible which the correct accessories).
The reason for this project is that iTunes, which is only available for Windows© , does not have a "real" gallery managent. You can only synchronize folders, not edit them on your iPod etc. OpenphotoPod, reads the Photo database file on your iPod and edits it.
Also OpenphotoPod is/was written in Java, which is plattform indepentant. So you can edit your iPod photos on each device which consists of an USB Port, some kind of Filesystem and Java. (until now I've just tested it on Linux and Windows. I would be pleased to here if there are any Problems on other OS's).
20.09.2005 - Initial release:
The first release has yet many feature implemented. The basics are working quite good. -You can create albums (by selecting folders which contains pictures or create empty ones
-Add pictures (PNG,GIF,JPEG and TIFF are supported until now) -Read the whole contents of the iPod. -Write to the iPod. -Delete Pictures -Delete Albums (is buggy!) -Pictures which are uploaded are playable on TV. -A restore function is also available if problems occure. (Restore to null, means no Pictures in the Gallery, but it will be editable by OpenPhotoPod Again.)
Keep in mind that this is the first version of OpenPhotoPod and so there'll be plenty of bugs, however it is really usable. Please read the disclaimer
